WW Cinema

WW Cinema, formally Wildwood Cinema, is a DIY cinematheque where every week filmmakers from New Orleans and around the world shine light on the films that have changed their lives. A program of Court 13 Arts showcasing the importance of visual literacy, we gather weekly to watch and then discuss these poignant works of art.

In partnership with The Broad Theater, we screen different films Wednesdays at 7:30p. Visit WW Cinema’s website below & follow us on Instagram @wwcinema.nola for more info on our next showing!

Fiscal Sponsorship Initiative

Fiscal sponsorship is a beneficial arrangement where a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, such as Court 13 Arts, supports individuals or groups seeking grant funding and tax-deductible donations for projects that align with our mission.

Court 13 Arts’ Fiscal Sponsorship Initiative helps artists and filmmakers access such funding in order to fund their projects.

Film Mentorship

In 2017 Court 13 founded our mentorship program to resource emerging filmmakers with the tools necessary to create their debut features. The program offers creative and practical guidance on the filmmaking process and helps plug directors into the funding, crewing, and distribution networks necessary to realize their visions.  We specifically target filmmakers who— because of who they are, where they are, or what they are making– face seemingly insurmountable odds to realize their vision.

Studio Spaces

In 2015 Court 13 Arts purchased a permanent headquarters on Franklin Avenue in New Orleans. These headquarters comprise of 6 studio spaces for local artists and artist collectives , who otherwise would not have access to affordable fabrication spaces.

Through the generous support of our community members & partners, we are able to keep these studios accessible so that local art has a place to thrive.

Artist Residencies

The Court 13 Artist Residency program was designed to foster innovative collaborations between filmmakers and artists, and to reinvent the way that filmmakers and visual artists interact.

We have run 2 Residences to date. Our Carnival Art Residency was designed to create holistic support for artists and makers whose traditional practices are depicted in films.  In the wake of the Court 13 produced documentary Brimstone & Glory, about the pyrotechnicians on Tultepec, Mexico, the parade crew Artsumex was granted a residency at Edgewood Studios to build a rolling, light-up, karaoke bull that fused the parading traditions of their hometown with an innovative take on New Orleans second lines.

This was followed by our set-design residency, which commissioned two artists to create a constructed environment that acted not only as stand-alone installation, but also as the inspiration for new film narratives. In an inversion of the normal filmmaking process, aspiring high-school directors were then invited to design films around these installations and shoot using the existing sets.
